A “classic” black-and-white Western, quite archetypal- the good guy is good, the bad guy is bad, the whore not only has a fighting spirit but a heart of gold, the drunk miraculously reforms in the name of righteousness. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, the dialogue is funny, a lively pace is maintained, and Marlene Dietrich proves an excellent foil for James Stewart. Very entertaining!
